MeBetter Privacy Policy

MeBetter is an app that helps you set goals and stick to them with Maya, an AI coach. It is operated by 2chiem Studio LLC, a company registered in California, United States (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information MeBetter collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have.

Summary

We collect what MeBetter needs to work: your account details, your goals and plan, and your progress.
Your conversations with Maya are not stored on our servers. Each message is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, so Maya can reply.
MeBetter has no advertising, no analytics or tracking tools, and we do not sell or share your information for advertising.
You can delete your account, and the data stored with it, at any time in the app.

Information we collect

Information you give us

Account details: your email address and name. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the name and email address they share with us (with Apple you can choose to hide your email). If you sign in with a password, our hosting provider stores it only in hashed form; we never see it.
Your goals and plan: what you want to achieve, how you’ll measure it, why it matters to you, your target date, the hours per week you can give it, the kind of goal (for example health or career), the milestones and sessions in your plan, and changes you make to them.
Onboarding answers: whether you’ve tried this goal before, when you’re usually free (for example “evenings”), and what usually gets in your way.
Your progress: which sessions you check off and when, and how a finished session felt (for example “just right”).
Messages to Maya: what you write in the goal-setting chat and the Coach tab (see “Maya and your messages” below).

Information collected automatically

Usage counts: to apply plan limits and keep the service affordable, we count how many replies Maya gives you. Each count records only the type of chat (goal setting or Coach) and the time, not what was said.
Daily limits: we keep a daily count of Maya requests per account, deleted after 30 days. If you use MeBetter without an account, we count requests using a scrambled, one-way code made from your IP address (a salted hash); your IP address itself is never stored, and these counts are deleted after 7 days.
Purchases: if you subscribe to MeBetter Pro, we receive your subscription status (for example that it is active and when it renews or ends) from our payment provider. We never receive your card or payment details; Apple or Google handle the payment.

Information stored only on your phone

If you use MeBetter without an account, your goal, plan, name and free-time answers are saved on your phone only. MeBetter also keeps a copy of your recent data on your phone so it works offline, and a count of your Maya messages for showing plan limits. When you create an account, your phone’s goals move to your account.

Maya and your messages

To answer you, Maya sends your message to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model, together with the context she needs: the earlier messages in that conversation, your first name, your goal and plan details, your onboarding answers, and (in the Coach tab) your sessions from a week ago to a week ahead. Anthropic processes this to produce Maya’s reply, as our service provider under its commercial terms. Please see Anthropic’s Privacy Policy for how it handles data.

We do not store your conversations on our servers. If Maya suggests a change to your plan and you accept it, only the change itself (for example a session’s new time) is saved to your plan.

Please don’t share sensitive information with Maya (such as health conditions, financial account numbers or government IDs) that you don’t want sent to our AI provider.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

create and run your account and keep you signed in;
generate your plan, show your goals, calendar, streak and progress, and let Maya coach you;
apply the free and Pro plan limits and provide your subscription;
keep MeBetter secure, prevent abuse and control costs (for example the daily limits); and
respond to you when you contact us.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it. We do not use your goals or messages to train AI models.

We share information only with the service providers that run MeBetter for us, and only what they need:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of our business (in which case this policy continues to apply to your information).

How long we keep information

Account, goals, plan and progress: until you delete them or your account.
Messages to Maya: not stored on our servers.
Reply counts: until you delete your account.
Daily request counts: 30 days for accounts; 7 days for people without an account (as a one-way code, never the IP address).
Subscription status: while your account exists.

Your choices and rights

Delete your account: in the app, go to Profile → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and the goals, plans, sessions, progress, usage counts and subscription status stored with it. Daily request counts expire within 30 days. Deleting your account does not cancel a Pro subscription. Cancel it first in your App Store or Google Play account settings (in MeBetter: Profile → Plan → Manage).
Without an account: use Profile → Erase data on this phone, or delete the app.
Access, correct or delete your information: you can see and change most of it in the app. For anything else, or to ask for a copy of your information, contact us at privacy@2chiem.com. We will respond within the time the law requires (for example 30 days under the GDPR and 45 days under California law).

If you live in California (CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to access and delete it, to correct it, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, you also have the rights to data portability, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We process your information to provide the service you asked for (performance of a contract), and for security, abuse prevention and cost control (our legitimate interests). Our providers may process your information in the United States and other countries; where required, transfers are protected by safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Our database only lets each account read its own data, and server keys are never included in the app. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of a breach where the law requires.

Children

MeBetter is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in the European Economic Area and the UK), and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us at privacy@2chiem.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date above. For significant changes, we will also let you know (for example by email or in the app) before they take effect.
